Please input student's name and read through the Community School 2016 Behavior Contract.
The goal of Community School and the Riverdale PTC is to provide an enriching, fun, and community oriented educational experience. In order to provide this, it is important to have a safe and comfortable environment conducive to learning.
We expect students to be:
RESPECTFUL: Our community depends on mutual respect. Children must treat each other and the instructors with respect. We expect students to practice good listening skills, follow direction, remain on task, support others, and be mindful of both verbal and body language. Willful defiance, foul language, gossip, mocking or any behaviors that make other students or staff feel uncomfortable will not be tolerated. RESPONISBLE: The instructors require full participation and attention from every student. SAFE: Each participant is expected to behave in a safe manner that demonstrates respect for themselves, others, and our physical surroundings.
Any activity that is deemed unsafe or potentially hazardous will be reported to parents. Serious or repetitive unsafe activity will result in the dismissal of the participant from the class. In accordance with school rules, possession of any hazardous item will result in immediate dismissal of the participant and notification of their parent or guardian. We support a concept of progressive discipline and encourage instructors to follow a process of issuing a 1st, 2nd and 3rd offense for most lower-level behaviors. The following actions will be taken in the event that any participant behaves in a manner that is inconsistent with these expectations: 1st offense: The instructor will talk with the student and provide a gentle reminder of behavior expectations as well as offer a specific alternative to what they are doing. 2nd Offense: The student’s parents will be phoned and asked to pick up their child from class. 3rd Offense: If no change of behavior is evident, the participant’s parents and Riverdale will discuss whether continued participation is in the best interest of the student. At any time a recommendation may be made to remove a student from a class if their behavior significantly not respectful, responsible and safe. It may be decided to dismiss the student and no refund will be issued.
I have read the behavioral expectations for the Community School Class and understand that if my child behaves in a manner inconsistent with these expectations, he/she may be dismissed from the program.
