  • Fencing, Wednesdays at 2:30 – 3:30. Grades 1 – 8.
  • Scratch Intro to Programming, Wednesdays at 2:30 – 3:45. Grades 1 – 5
  • Spanish, Thursdays at 3:30 – 4:30. Grades K – 3.
  • Yoga, Thursdays at 3:30 – 4:15. Grades K – 8.
  • Marimba, Mo/We, Tu/Th and We/Fr 7:30 – 8:20am. Grades 4 – 8.
  • HS Marimba, details TBD.
  • Jazz Lab, Fridays at 7:20 – 8:20am. Grades 5 – 12
  • GS Jazz Band, Mo/We at 7:20 – 8:20am. Grades 6 – 8.

Fencing 101

Fencing

The Oregon Fencing Alliance offers Portland’s best fencing instruction in a fun, easy to learn, engaging atmosphere—for everyone from beginning fencers as young as 6 to world-class athletes like Mariel Zagunis every day.

Clay Sculpture

Have you worked with clay before?  Well, if you think you know how it’s done – think again!  We will create several fun and challenging clay sculpture projects using techniques that will raise some eye brows for sure. The instructor will challenge you to take clay sculpture to the limit that will require you to be a bit of an engineer.  Bring lots of imagination and a healthy portion of patience and watch your hands bring a piece of clay to life!  At the end of the course you will be able to take home all your pieces of art to enjoy.  THIS CLASS IS ALSO OPEN TO PARENTS!

Collage and Decoupage

Wow – two very fancy words…  What do they mean?  In the collage section of the course we will create a fabulous piece of original art on real canvas using nothing but acrylic paint and clippings from magazines and newspapers.  You will be amazed what you can create using little bits and pieces of colored paper and arranging them to form a larger image – your art piece!  During our decoupage segment we will be decorating useful every-day items such as holiday ornaments, picture frames, and boxes also using images on paper and then preserving them with acrylic, so you can enjoy them for a long time to come! And you will never have to hear not to use so much glue – the instructor will tell you to use more!  
I wouldn’t miss this one, if I were you!

Rock Painting Workshop

In this fun workshop you get to paint up to 3 rocks of your choice.  The instructor has collected rocks for several cute projects such as animals, pizza slices, water melon slices, hearts and more.  You get to chose 3 and paint them with acrylic paint. What to bring to class: an old shirt to protect your clothing (we will be working with permanent acrylic paints) and the patience to master some detailed work.  All other materials will be provided by instructor.

With Culture Club Kids the class environment is designed for students to innately learn in context, using clues to derive meaning. The kinds of activities we use in class include music, role-play, hand signs, storyboards and board games. Students use contextually appropriate full phrases from the very first class.

Purses and Bags Workshops

This workshop is all about recycling old fabric materials and creating something new – bags and purses that is!  Old pair of jeans that doesn’t fit anymore?  We can bring it to new life making a purse, some storage baskets, and other little bags and pouches!  Ever wondered how a pom-pom was made?  Well, here’s your chance to also learn that!
What to bring to class: a pair of old jeans or a straight denim skirt (no stretchy material, please!) and the patience to complete some hand sewing.  All other materials will be provided by instructor.

Scratch Intro to Programming

Portland Early Learning Project’s mission is to empower children, families, and educators to use language – in all its forms – to develop relationships that enrich their personal lives and inspire positive change in the world.

Riverdale After School

Riverdale After School Program, Inc. (RAS) offers before and after school care to all Riverdale families. RAS is open Monday – Friday from 7:30 – 8:20am before school and from 3:20 – 6:00pm after school. (2:20 – 6:00pm on Wednesdays)
