Collage and Decoupage Fall 2019

THURSDAYS
GRADES K-8
Wow – two very fancy words…  What do they mean?  In the collage section of the course we will create fabulous pieces of original art on real canvas using nothing but acrylic paint and clippings from magazines and newspapers. During our decoupage segment we will be decorating useful every-day items such as holiday ornaments, picture frames, and boxes also using images on paper and then preserving them with acrylic, so you can enjoy them for a long time to come!

Jazz Band RGS – Fall 2019

MONDAYS & WEDNESDAYS
GRADES 6-8

Auditions are 9/9/19 at 7:30am – RGS band room

This course covers the study and performance of swing, latin, funk and rock styles with an emphasis on advanced rhythmic concepts, chord to scale relationships and improvisation. Studying privately is encouraged.
Jazz Band runs all year long and is a full year commitment. Sign up is three times a year.

Jazz Lab – Fall 2019

GRADES 5-12

Auditions 9/11/19 at 7:30am

This course will introduce the young jazz musician to basic jazz, latin, funk and rock arrangements, work on listening skills, ensemble playing techniques and explore improvisation. Open to all instruments, this is the perfect opportunity for the beginning jazz student or seasoned jazz player interested in working on a second instrument. All students must have at least one year of musical study.
Jazz lab runs all year long and is a year long commitment. Sign up is three times a year.

Marimba – Beginner Fall 2019

Learn rhythm, melody and ensemble playing through various music arrangements for marimba ensemble. Instructor Michael Charles Smith, a marimba soloist, composer, and teacher, has been performing and teaching marimba, drum set, and guitar for the past 21 years throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Marimba HS Fall 2019

GRADES 9 – 12

Riverdale School District has a vibrant marimba program. Our amazing instructor Michael Smith has expanded the program to the HS. Come join the fun!

Each class will consist of 4/5 students and meet twice a week. Class times are after school but will be determined based on each groups availability.

Riverdale After School

Riverdale After School Program, Inc. (RAS) offers before and after school care to all Riverdale families. RAS is open Monday – Friday from 7:30 – 8:20am before school and from 3:20 – 6:00pm after school. (2:20 – 6:00pm on Wednesdays). We will open our doors on the first day of school and follow the school calendar.
