Yoga Mak – Yoga for teens and pre-teens

MONDAYS – 12/2, 12/9, 12/16   
GRADES 5 – 8

Utilizing affirmations and yoga to build community and understanding around larger life concepts, this class is a wonderful mix of movement and discussion.  Ideal for students in 5th – 8th grade, this class creates a space where you are free to explore, laugh and move in a supportive community.  Each class is structured around a positive affirmation that inspires the yoga flow and ends with a guided relaxation.  All girls and female identifiying persons welcome!

Holiday Ceramic Workshop 2019

Want to be a little holiday elf?  Let’s get busy and create some lovely gifts and holiday decorations from clay!  We will be making a cookie plate, lovely ornaments with evergreen impressions in the clay, and the instructor can surely help you with a lovely gift idea for someone special.

The Battle of the Books is an exciting tournament of reading. Students form teams, read books on their own and meet to discuss the books to get ready for the battle.

Jazz Band RGS – Fall 2019

MONDAYS & WEDNESDAYS
GRADES 6-8

Auditions are 9/9/19 at 7:30am – RGS band room

This course covers the study and performance of swing, latin, funk and rock styles with an emphasis on advanced rhythmic concepts, chord to scale relationships and improvisation. Studying privately is encouraged.
Jazz Band runs all year long and is a full year commitment. Sign up is three times a year.

Jazz Lab – Fall 2019

FRIDAYS
GRADES 5-12

Auditions 9/11/19 at 7:30am

This course will introduce the young jazz musician to basic jazz, latin, funk and rock arrangements, work on listening skills, ensemble playing techniques and explore improvisation. Open to all instruments, this is the perfect opportunity for the beginning jazz student or seasoned jazz player interested in working on a second instrument. All students must have at least one year of musical study.
Jazz lab runs all year long and is a year long commitment. Sign up is three times a year.

Marimba – Beginner Fall 2019

MONDAYS & WEDNESDAYS
GRADES 4 – 8

Learn rhythm, melody and ensemble playing through various music arrangements for marimba ensemble. Instructor Michael Charles Smith, a marimba soloist, composer, and teacher, has been performing and teaching marimba, drum set, and guitar for the past 21 years throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Marimba HS Fall 2019

GRADES 9 – 12

Riverdale School District has a vibrant marimba program. Our amazing instructor Michael Smith has expanded the program to the HS. Come join the fun!

Each class will consist of 4/5 students and meet twice a week. Class times are after school but will be determined based on each groups availability.

Riverdale After School

Riverdale After School Program, Inc. (RAS) offers before and after school care to all Riverdale families. RAS is open Monday – Friday from 7:30 – 8:20am before school and from 3:20 – 6:00pm after school. (2:20 – 6:00pm on Wednesdays). We will open our doors on the first day of school and follow the school calendar.
